Abstract: The identification of the local discharge belt is of great significance to the analysis of the groundwater cycle system and hydraulic zone of the supply-runoff-drainage for the exploration of sandstone uranium deposits. The traditional remote sensing technique for the identification of local discharge belt believe that high soil moisture will occurs due to groundwater seepage, which can be identified by calculating the humidity index of remote sensing data. In this paper, the relationship between the local discharge belt and remote sensing characteristics of known sandstone-type uranium deposits(Tamusu uranium deposit)was analyzed. Combined with the hydrogeology,it is believed that the local discharge belt may not exposed as the high humid in the soil to water because of strong evaporation and transpiration in arid basins, however linear salinized belt may distribute along the fault structure which cause the local discharge of underground water. A remote sensing method for the identification of local discharge belt was established and tested in the Luanjing area of Gansu province. As a result,a local discharge belts was successfully identified by the method.
