With 1∶50000 geological mapping,borehole verification,single-well sedimentary analysis,paleocurrent measurement,and cross-well geological profiles,The sedimentary characteristics of Shangganchaigou Formation and its coupling relationship with tectonic evolution are summarized systematically in Lucashan area, Northern Margin of Qaidam Basin.The results showed that the Lucaoshan area has uranium-rich granite which is close to Daqaidam Mountain of southern Qilian. Shangganchaigou Formation was sedimented in the inactive tectonic period between the Late Yanshanian and the Early Himalayan. Therefore a system of alluvial fan-delta-alluvial fan was formed in response to the strong-weak-strong tectonic evolution trend, and multi-phase delta channel sediments were formed. Paleocurrent measurement showed that the stream was running SSE. By analyzing the sedimentary combination feature of uranium mineralization anomalies in the borehole,the favorable prospecting horizon in the delta sedimentary system of the Shangganchaigou Formation was determined for the uranium exploration in Lucaoshan area.
